Festival of Democracy - Election; is here.

The heart and soul of democracy are elections. We can't elect a government that is for, by, and of the people, if we don't have elections. 5 states of the world largest democracy will go on in election in the upcoming days of February and March. It includes the most populous state of the country i.e  Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur.
The election is to be held for 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh,117 in Punjab,70 in Uttarakhand,60 in Manipur and  40 in Goa.

We will analyze every State in detail-

- In Uttar Pradesh polling will be held in seven phases- February 10, February 14, February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3, March 7

The state has been governed by Yogi Adityanath's BJP for the past five years. The party won a whopping 312 seats out of the 384 seats it sought in the 2017 assembly election, giving them a majority. The Samajwadi Party, on the other hand, formed a coalition with Congress, but it did not work out. They barely won 54 seats, comprising 47 for the SP and 10 for the Congress. Mayawati, often known as 'Bahanji,' won only 19 seats in the 2017 assembly election, while the RLD barely got off the ground, getting only one seat.

In the upcoming election, BJP is fighting with Apna Dal, Samajwadi Party with RLD and Congress alone. The AAP is also contesting the UP election, but it appears that they are only there to show their presence.
The BJP's decision to make Yogi Adityanath the Chief Minister was unexpected. Yogi's empire was established after that. Within a few days of his appointment as CM, he became the favourite of News Channels, and they began to cover his minor details, such as why he constantly remains bald, and who chopped his hair. What brand of shoes does he wear? It was clear from the start of 2017 that Noida Media (also known as GODI MEDIA) would become his and his government's lapdog.

He became the face of Hindutva surpassing every other leader. The communal statement, encounters,  misusing of  UAPA and many custodial deaths and handling of COVID that have happened in his tenure are some serious blot on his government. Despite many allegations, he remains the favourite of many.

According to opinion polls, there is only a struggle between the BJP and the SP. All other parties will be relegated to a supporting role only.

Punjab will vote on 14 February in 117 seats.

After 4.5 years as Congress, CM Capt Amrinder Singh on November 2 resigned from the party due to internal differences and formed his new party - Punjab Lok Congress. After that Dalit face, Charanjit Singh became Punjab CM for 111 days.

Due to the introduction of three farm laws, the people of Punjab became furious and they protested straight away. This was one of the main reasons for the breaking of the Akali Dal age-old alliance with the BJP. The people of Punjab fought bravely for more than a year for the three farm laws and they stood firm till the decision was taken back by the central government.

Election campaigns are in full gear with only a few days till the next elections. Looking at the current situation and mood in the state, it is clear that the people of Punjab are eager for change, and the Aam Aadmi Party is unsurprisingly their top choice. Akali is contesting on her own. The BJP and the Punjab Lok Congress have allied but that will have little impact on the outcome.

On 14 Feb Uttarakhand will vote in 70 seats

In the five years that the BJP has been in power, they have had two different chief ministers. Trivender Singh Rawat was the first, followed by Tirath Singh Rawat, and finally, Pushkar Singh Dhami, who is the current CM. Due to incumbency, the BJP has had to change its chief minister on several occasions. According to the ground report and my understanding, these strategies may be beneficial to them. Uttarakhand is also known as the land of Defence personnel and BJP through marketing, advertisement and Whatsapp Forwards has taken the patent of nationalism(actually hyper-nationalism and xenophobia) across the country and in Uttarakhand too.

AAP through their CM candidate Colonel(R) Ajay Kothiyal is trying to counter the narrative of BJP  but they started late. However, they will gain in the upcoming election. Congress too will improve its performance compared to the 2017 election. Overall in Uttarakhand, we will see the triangular fight in the upcoming assembly election.

In Goa too, the election will take place on 14 Feb in 40 seats.

Goa is very different politically as compared to any other state of India. Here a party(Congress) that has won 17 seats now has left with two-seat only. On the other hand, the party(BJP) that has won 13 seats make the government with a full majority. Goa is the epitome of "Aaya Ram Gaya Ram".

Like Uttarakhand, here too we will see the triangular fight between Congress, AAP and BJP

The voting will be conducted in two phases on February 27 and March 3 in 60 assembly seats.

After winning 28 seats in 2017, Congress became the single largest party, however several of its leaders eventually left the party. The BJP was able to form the government in the state after forming a post-election alliance with the Naga People's Front (NPF), the National People's Party (NPP), the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), and one independent candidate.

The major fight is between BJP, NPP, CONGRESS and CPI in the upcoming assembly election.

CONCLUSION -

BJP is continuously betting on Modi face and Hindutva and they are getting benefits too.
As India's oldest political party, the Congress must demonstrate its credibility and work to keep its members from defecting to other parties. They have a long and difficult path ahead of them.

AAP is becoming an alternative for non-BJP non-Congress voters. They are trying hard to enlarge their party base in the different states across India.

Samajwadi Party is reviving after two crushing defeats in the 2017 Assembly election and the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Akhilesh is improving his communication skill

Mayawati led BSP is becoming insignificant and fading from Indian electoral politics.

Media play a significant role in democracy but it is saddening to see that most of them are in the lapse of the ruling government or LK Adwani words "when asked to bend, they crawled.

If you are reading from these five states please participate in the festival of democracy i.e ELECTION
